About Deborah Oti

In 1973, Deborah Oti was born in Tema, Ghana.  She lived there for a few years and moved to Brazzaville, Congo with her family, where she attended kindergarten and some of elementary school.  She moved back to Ghana and finished her elementary school at SOS Hermann Gmeiner International School after passing the Common Entrance Examinations.

 

At the age of 11, Deborah Oti began high school at Aburi Girls’ Secondary School, an all-girls boarding school in the Eastern region of Ghana.  After 5 years, she graduated with an Ordinary Level certificate.  She moved to Cameroon to finish high school and graduated with an Advanced Level certificate after 2 years.

 

After graduation, Deborah Oti moved back to Ghana.  She went on to Nairobi, Kenya to pursue her undergraduate degree.  She graduated with a Bachelor’s in International Business Administration and moved back to Ghana to acquire some work experience.

 

At the age of 23, Deborah Oti began her business career in Ghana as an administrative intern for GTZ Regional AIDS Programme Office, a non-profit organization in Accra, Ghana.  She continued on as an office manager for a private electrical maintenance company in Accra, Ghana.  She also interned for about a week in Harare, Zimbabwe, as an administrative assistant for a World Health Organization conference.

 

In 1998, Deborah Oti moved to the United States to pursue her Master’s degree at Troy State University in Troy, Alabama.  In June 1999, she graduated with an MBA with a concentration in General Business.  She moved to Savannah, Georgia to pursue better job opportunities. 

 

Within approximately 14 years, Deborah Oti worked several jobs in the hospitality & construction industries, including food service, catering, administration & accounts payable.

Deborah’s accounting and auditing career took off when she worked as a comptroller for Stone Horse Imports, a stone slab & tile distributor and wholesaler in Bluffton, South Carolina.  She was responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, bank statement reconciliations & internal audits, among others.  After 10 years, she was laid off due to an economic downturn.

 

Since 2014, Deborah has contracted with Robert Half (Accountemps), thus working for such companies as Georgia Southern University, Hospice Savannah, Market South Management, and Millwork & Supply.

 

In 2015, Deborah Oti worked as a Staff Accountant at Stein Accounting CPA.  She managed a wide variety of industry clients ranging from restaurants, transportation, and funeral homes.  Her tasks included setting up client books, payroll, audits, accounts receivable & payable, and reporting of payroll tax, sales tax & property tax.

 

In 2017, Deborah Oti commuted weekly to Orlando, Florida to work as a Senior Accountant for Plantation Oaks Senior Living Management.  She worked with the Yardi Program for rentals, along with QuickBooks Online.

 

In 2018, Deborah Oti worked as an Accountant at Christine E Cassidy PA where she managed a variety of client accounts through payroll, sales tax, accounts receivable & payable.

 

Since 2019, Deborah Oti has been working with Rhino Group Restaurant Collection (then Ele & The Chef Restaurant Group) as the Accountant.  Her main roles include bank account reviews and cash deposit reconciliations, among others.

 

Deborah Oti was a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) from 2008 to 2009.  She is currently a QuickBooks Pro Advisor with emphasis on Pro, Premier, Enterprise Solutions & Online.  She also has experience in Yardi Voyager (rentals),  Conac Pivot (construction), 1099-ETC, Financial Edge, Banner & AppFolio.  Resume.
